Big games await The Shockers this week. UNI comes to town today, and a road game at Creighton this Saturday could decide who wins the regular season MVC title. With Creighton’s eight point loss to Evansville yesterday, there is a feeling that Wichita State is now in the driver’s seat of their destiny for a regular season title. Ever since Creighton beat WSU at home, it has felt like a constant uphill battle to get back to first place, let alone in sole ownership of the top spot. However, after the loss, WSU has a one game lead. Barring a loss to UNI tonight, if WSU wins in Omaha, Wichita State will have a two game lead in The MVC race.

First thing is taking care of business at home tonight against UNI. You can bet on it that this team, and the coaching staff have not looked past UNI. The Panthers are a solid team, that can hang with anyone on the right day. That point has been proven previously with their upset win over Creighton, as well as wins against Colorado State, Iowa State, and Iowa. The key to the game for The Shox will be to dictate the tempo, score inside, limit UNI’s 3 point attempts, and dominate the rebound margin. All of which is very possible for Wichita State. Look for UNI to put a lot of pressure on Stutz in the post, using double team tactics on him. If Stutz can bull his way in for points, get fouled, or successfully kick the ball out to an open man, Wichita State should put themselves in a good position to win tonight. UNI’s weakness has been their post play this year, and they have a height disadvantage to WSU.

If Wichita State can come away with a win tonight, it will be huge. It will put Creighton’s back against the wall, and the game on Saturday could go down in Shocker lore forever.
