Former Wichita East High School standout and current Hutchinson Community College star, Samajae Haynes-Jones, signed his national letter of intent to Wichita State on Wednesday.
Haynes-Jones is the first recruit of the 2017-18 class to officially sign with Wichita State. Samajae is familiar with Wichita State, and Charles Koch Arena; he won the 2015 Class 6A state championship for Wichita East High which was held on Wichita State’s campus in Charles Koch Arena.
As a freshman at Hutchinson Community College, Samajae averaged 15.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists. He is known as a hard-worker and a gym-rat, and should fit in nicely with the culture established by Head Coach Gregg Marshall at Wichita State.
Samajae Haynes-Jones was also recruited by Cincinnati, Houston, Louisville, Robert Morris, and East Tennessee State. ETSU is currently coached by former Wichita State assistant, Steve Forbes. Coach Forbes has recruited a few players with ties to Kansas, and Wichita State players. Of note, Forbes recruited former Shocker Tevin Glass, and Chadrack Lufile’s younger brother Abednego to play for the Bucs.
