Fred VanVleet will most likely miss the entirety of the AdvoCare Invitational, reports ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.
“I’d be surprised if he plays,” Marshall told ESPN. “The last thing the doctors told me was probably the Saint Louis game at best.”
VanVleet originally injured his hamstring in a closed scrimmage in October against Oklahoma State. Fred’s ankle was then injured in the Charleston Southern game, and exited the game after just three minutes of play.
With the senior leader sidelined with injury, the need for one of the underclassmen to step up is intensified. To add to the woes of injuries, freshman Landry Shamet is undergoing an MRI on Monday to evaluate a stress reaction. With the possibility that Shamet sits, that leaves the point guard duties to Ron Baker, Ty Taylor, and John Robert Simon.
Wichita State plays their next game on Thursday in Orlando, Florida against Southern California.
