The senior guard duo of Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet continue to stack up preseason honors and hype. Sporting News released two articles yesterday, each a listing of the top point guards and shooting guards in college basketball. VanVleet was listed as the third best point guard in the country, and Baker was honored as the single best shooting guard in the land. Sporting News cited Ron’s stellar and hard-nosed play for Team USA in the Pan Am Games, noting that he was arguably the best player on a team filled with collegiate stars and former NBA talent.

Raphielle Johnson of College Basketball Talk on NBC Sports listed the best back courts in college basketball and slotted the Shockers at #2 behind the Kentucky Wildcats. Johnson’s article expands on the typical write up of Baker and VanVleet and included Frankamp, Wessel and Shamet as key reasons why he ranked Wichita State highly.

Preseason hype has expectations sky high for Wichita State this year. With the Shockers tipping off against Hawaii Pacific in just 10 days, the season is just around the corner.
