Keyser, a 6-4 shooting guard is a huge get for Gregg Marshall. Keyser picked the Shockers over Colorado State, Auburn, Kansas State, Wake Forest and Boston College.
Keyser is a physically gifted combo-guard who can impact the game in a number of different ways. He has a terrific basketball body with good size, length and athleticism. He’s very comfortable with the ball, snaps his passes around the perimeter and very capable of sliding over to the point guard position if needed according to ESPN’s recruiting analysis.
Originally committed to Colorado State, Keyser opted for a prep school in New Hampshire, Brewster Academy for the upcoming school year. He chose Brewster over Wichita’s own Sunrise Christian Academy.
Keyser originally planned to attend prep school for a year before going to college but changed his mind and reclassified from a 2016 recruit to the 2015 class last winter. Now, he’s going back to his original plan.
He qualified academically to Colorado State but decided he wanted to improve athletically before heading to the collegiate level.
Before de-committing from Colorado State, Keyser was rated the No. 2 prospect out of Maryland and No. 20 shooting guard in the country in the 2015 signing class by ESPN, which rated him a four-star recruit on its scale of 0-5 stars. Rivals.com rated him a three-star prospect.
Keyser is the first commit for Marshall in the 2016 class. There are four scholarships remaining.
