New Recruits and New Assistant Coach

Update: We’ve created stand alone pages for all these players and coaches, please view them here: Ede Egharevba, Ron Baker, and Coach Dana Ford.

Some good info has come out since our last post. A quick run down is that Wichita State has secured two more recruits, both high school seniors, and has also hired a new assistant coach. All three are great news this time of year.

Our first recruit is Ede Egharevba, a 6’6” Small Forward from Queens, New York. He has nice size and great athletic ability, with the skills of a guard. He chose Wichita State recently, after visiting the school, and talking with fellow Queens native, and Shocker Alumnus, Ramon Clemente. He is a bit smaller than Clemente but he has the same style of aggressive play that we’ve been accustomed to. A dedicated young man, with a ton of upside, a full breakdown with video, is on his recruitment page.

The second recruit Coach Marshall nabbed up this weekend, is a highly touted Kansas player out of Scott City. Ron Baker is a 6’3” Shooting Guard, with a tremendous shot, that can be taken off the dribble, or off a screen with amazing accuracy. He has nice athletic ability, and was a 3 sport star in Scott City, he played QB and DB in football, and is the Short Stop on the baseball team. He will red shirt his first year on campus, as well as pay his own way, with a guaranteed scholarship for the 2012-13 season. Read his full recruiting break down on his recruit page.

Dana Ford is the new assistant coach to replace one of the two spots left vacant by Coach Dollar, and Coach Gross leaving the program. The name might sound familiar to you, because he was a Graduate Assistant for two years under Coach Marshall. He played basketball at Illinois State under Coach Jans when he was an assistant there. He has strong ties, and views both Coach Marshall and Coach Jans as the two most influential men in basketball to him. He knows Coach Marshall’s game plan, and will be a great asset to us. He grew up in Illinois, but recently coached at Tennessee State. It is not yet known where exactly his recruiting power will be, if its the Chicago area, or the south, but I’d bet he will recruit both areas for us.
